big love Indian hair

Hair Care Guide

Thank you for choosing BigLove Indian Hair™. Our extensions are made from 100% RAW human hair, meaning they behave just like natural hair and require proper maintenance to preserve their beauty and longevity. Please follow the guide below to ensure the best experience. Extensions are an investment, and with the right routine, you’ll enjoy exceptional results.

Please note: We know clients who have been wearing the same hair for over 5 years, and know of clients who have ruined the hair in less than 5 hours. How long the hair last depends on the TLC you give it!

Pre-Installation Checklist

Before installing:

  1. Inspect Before Use

Please inspect your bundles thoroughly before altering, coloring, or installing. If you notice any issues, do not proceed—contact us immediately for support. Keep the plastic security bands or zip ties intact during this inspection to avoid tangling.

  1. Co-Wash & Air Dry

Co-wash (using conditioner and shampoo) to cleanse and enhance shine, bounce, and natural texture. Air dry thoroughly before installation.

  1. Shedding & Tangle Test

Gently comb through using fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Some shedding is normal; excessive tangling or shedding may indicate a problem.

  1. Bleach & Curl Test

Always test a small strand before applying bleach or color. Similarly, test a few strands to check how the hair holds curls.

Important: Once the hair is altered, installed, or mishandled, BigLove Indian Hair™ is not responsible for any issues. No returns/refunds or exchanges are accepted post-installation.

Ongoing Maintenance

  • Co-wash once or twice a week using sulfate-free conditioner. Increase frequency if you’re active or exposed to sweat/dirt.
  • Use shampoo only when there’s heavy product buildup. Always follow with a moisturizing conditioner.
  • Apply virgin coconut oil or Dabur Amla oil (available on amazon) weekly for 4+ hours for added hydration.
  • Avoid product buildup—too much leave-in can cause heaviness and tangling.

For Added Shine, Smoothness and Longevity:

  • Conditioner Add-In: A few drops of olive oil
  • Leave-In: Sulfate-free keratin conditioner
  • Styling Oil: Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Oil Treatment
  • Frizz Control: Chi Silk Infusion or Silk Elements MegaSilk
  • PRO TIP: USE Dabur Amla Oil every week.

How to Co-Wash Extensions Before Install

  1. Mix lukewarm water with a generous amount of conditioner.
  2. Gently immerse the hair and let it soak for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Comb with a wide-tooth comb from ends to roots while conditioner is on. Only use downward motions from root to tip.
  4. Rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle.
  5. Air dry completely before installation.

Preventing Shedding (Wefted Hair)

  • Seal Wefts: Apply a quality weft sealant before installing.
  • Avoid Cutting Wefts: If necessary, seal each cut end
  • Sew Around, Not Through Wefts: Prevents stitch loosening and shedding.
  • Double Tracking: Fold wefts to ensure beards face inward and don’t irritate the scalp.

Bulk Hair Handling

  • Always pull hair from the top where it’s tied.
  • Never take strands from the bottom to prevent inversion and matting.

Lace Base Extensions (Closures, Frontals, Wigs)

Co-Wash Before Install:

  1. Detangle dry hair with a wide-tooth comb.
  2. Soak lace piece in conditioner-rich water (do not scrub or rub lace).
  3. Gently comb while wet; always hold lace ends to avoid tearing.
  4. Rinse with cool water and air dry flat.
  5. Comb only when completely dry.

Lace Care Tips:

  • Handle lace gently—do not tug, scratch, or use sharp objects.
  • Avoid bleaching knots. Use concealer or knot sealant instead.
  • Recommended: Walker’s Top-Loc Knot Sealer

Styling & Daily Maintenance

  • Always detangle from ends downwards using a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush.
  • Use sulfate-free curling creams and alcohol-free serums to define waves or curls.
  • Air dry completely before touching to avoid frizz. Avoid blow drying.
  • Sleep with a silk scarf/bonnet or on a silk pillowcase.

Bedtime Care

  • Braid hair loosely and wrap in a satin scarf.
  • For waves, set with flexi-rods overnight.
  • In the morning, gently comb and apply serum if needed.

Things to Avoid

  • Avoid harsh chemicals and alcohol-based products.
  • Do not use excessive heat—protect with a heat spray if needed.
  • Avoid blow drying hair.
  • Never sleep with wet hair.
  • Do not swim in saltwater without protection; wash immediately after exposure.
  • Avoid overuse of styling products to prevent buildup.

General Tips

  • Get professional help for dyeing or bleaching.
  • Deep condition monthly to prevent dryness and tangling.
  • Minimize heat styling and trim ends regularly.
  • For gym-goers: tie hair in a bun or high ponytail to avoid sweat exposure.

Post-Installation Issues

Some tangling, matting, or shedding can occur due to:

  • Improper installation
  • Not drying hair completely before sleeping
  • Using incorrect products or excessive heat
  • Lack of regular maintenance

Remember to Co-wash as required, use little leave-in conditioners, and treat with hair-repair masks. Always have your extensions installed and maintained by a professional stylist. Apply Dabur Amla oil (available on Amazon) or Virgin coconut oil weekly. Treat the hair like you would treat your own hair.
